Anna M. Houseknecht

August 16, 1920 — February 17, 2009

When tomorrow starts without me, try to understand, an angel came and called my name, then took me by the hand…Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother Anna M. Houseknecht, 88, of Diamond Valley Road passed away on Tuesday morning, February 17, 2009 following a period of declining health. Anna was born on August 16, 1920 in Towanda, Pa a daughter of the late Fred and Bessie (Biles) Heath. She was a graduate of Towanda High School Class of 1938. On June 29, 1940 she married her high school sweetheart and classmate Gerald W. Houseknecht together they celebrated 65 years of marriage until his passing on November 20, 2005. Anna was a member of the Tioga Center United Methodist Church, the Tioga Center Fire Department Ladies Auxilary and the Power Squadron in Binghamton. She and Gerry enjoyed spending time in their motor home where they served as "Camp Ground Host" at the State Park in Ospry, Fla. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who treasured the time with her family and always looked forward to gathering with them for Sunday dinners. Anna is survived by her children and their spouses: Earl and Betty Houseknecht of Nichols; James and Dedra Houseknecht of Sebring, Fla; Mary Ann Brown and her companion Rowmain Tunnicliff of Wysox, Pa; brothers-in-law Roland Houseknecht of Monroeton, Pa; Donald Houseknecht of Elmria; a sister-in-law: Louise Houseknecht; her grandchildren: William Houseknecht and friend Laurie; Dale and Amy Houseknecht, Tina and Robert Lewis, James G. Houseknecht, Stacey and Scott Teel, and Jennifer Houseknecht; several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive. Anna was predeceased by her husband Gerald, siblings: Mary, Earl and Ralph. A time of remembering the special gift Anna was to all of us will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols with her pastor Rev. Laurence Mather, OSL officiating. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Thursday from 6 pm until the time of the service at the funeral chapel.
