Blanche A. Bennett, 84, of Towanda, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on February 16 at the Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home. Blanche was born on September, 30, 1930 in Wyalusing, Pa, the daughter of the late Gordon and Luraette Coleman Bennett. She graduated from the LeRaysville High School in 1948. There she participated in glee club, band, softball and basketball. After graduation she attended and graduated from Ridley-Lowell Business School in Binghamton, NY. She then began working in Towanda at the Pennsylvania Public Assistance Office, first as a secretary and then as an office manager. Blanche lived with her sister Alice and her husband Howard Watson for most of her adult life and after retirement lived with them close to her sister Norma. Blanche enjoyed her years in the country raising vegetables, picking blackberries in the woods, sewing, shopping and doting on her relatives. She devoted her life to her sisters and many nieces and nephews always finding ways to provide for them financially and with many gifts. In her younger years she adventured to Europe and took numerous trips to Maine to visit relatives. Later in life, she and her sister Alice took several bus trips across the country and traveled as far as Alaska and Hawaii. She was a lifelong member of the Dille Parish United Church of Christ in LeRaysville and Potterville, Pa. She was preceded in death by her father Gordon Bennett, mother Luraette Colemen Bennett, and sisters Ruth Kelley, Alice Watson and Norma Chubbuck. Surviving are her brother-in-law Edgar Chubbuck, several nieces, nephews and cousins and their families also survive. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the staff of Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home and to administrator Mary Adams and her staff who took such loving care of Blanche in her final years. It was Blanches's wish that services be private. A graveside service at Bradford County Memorial Park in Towanda, Pa will be held at the family's convenience.
