Aaron A. Yoder

Aaron A. Yoder, known affectionately as “Yoder” to his friends and family, passed away on March 29, 2025, on the day of his 50th birthday, at his home in Andover, NY. Born in Montrose, PA, on March 29, 1975, Aaron’s life was marked by his adventurous spirit, his thoughtful nature, and his handy skills that touched the lives of many.

Raised in the Amish tradition, Aaron's formative years in Warren Center were filled with the values of community and simplicity. As a teenager he made the bold decision to leave the Amish community and embrace a different path. With the support of Judy and Doug Johnston, he attended Northeast Bradford School, where he became the second Yoder to graduate from high school in the class of 1994.

His strength was not only physical but also shone through in his determination and work ethic. Professionally, Aaron was the accomplished owner and operator of Yoder Contracting. With his hands and heart, he built many homes across Pennsylvania, and New York creating not just structures but homes filled with love and memories for numerous families.

His work stands as a legacy to his skill and dedication to his craft. Aaron had an insatiable love for the outdoors. He could often be found fishing in any waters that promised a good catch, boating through serene lakes, or snowmobiling across the snow-covered landscapes. His zest for life was contagious, and he had an uncanny ability to find joy in every outdoor activity he pursued. He was the cherished son of Ida Mae Yoder and Judy and Doug Johnston. Aaron also leaves behind his daughter Arabella S. Yoder; he was a beloved brother to Ervin Yoder, Dora Jackson, Sara Miller, Daniel Yoder, Melvin Yoder, Rudy Yoder, Sadie Bell, Sylvia Engle, Henry Yoder, Erin Detrick, and Richard Trowbridge. His role as an uncle was one he treasured deeply, leaving behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will miss his presence profoundly.

Aaron was predeceased by his father Ammon Yoder; his sister Melinda "Linda" Miller and brother Calvin Yoder; his grandparents: Dorothy Johnston, Rudy and Barbara Miller; Daniel and Melinda Yoder.

Described by those who knew him best as thoughtful, adventurous, and handy, Aaron had a way of making every person he met feel valued and important. His thoughtfulness was seen in the way he remembered the small details of people’s lives, and his adventurous nature was evident in his willingness to take on new challenges. His handiness was not only a professional asset but also made him the go-to person for family and friends in need of help.

His 50 years were lived with purpose, passion, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. While his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, the memories of his laughter, his stories, and his adventurous escapades will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind and the indelible mark he made on the world. Aaron A. Yoder will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
