When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, remember the love that we have shared and that will comfort thee….Anita Sylvia (Churchill) Deats, 91, of Windham, Pa passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday evening, July 30, 2016. Anita was born on June 7, 1925 in Owego, NY a daughter of the late Sylvenus W. and Mabelle (White) Churchill. She graduated valedictorian of the Rome High School class of 1943 and continued her education at night school at North High in Binghamton during World War 11. On July 13, 1946, she married Jesse Z. Deats and together they shared sixty-five years of marriage until his passing on November 3, 2011. In earlier years, Anita was employed at ANSCO, Sayre Lingerie, Blue Swan, Hall Wares, Mila Fabrics and the Mary Lou Dress Factory. Anita was a former member of the Windham Ladies Aide, Wappasening Grange, Windham Fire Auxiliary and at one time taught Sunday School at the Nichols United Methodist Church. She currently was a member of the Nichols Senior Citizens, Friends of the Cady Library where she enjoyed friends and sharing at their book club. Anita was proud to be inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking and many will remember her for the delicious pies she made for the Grange bake sales. Anita will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sylvia M. Deats; her sister Wanda (Churchill) Rice; brother and sister-in-law Norman J. and Jean Churchill; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. She was predeceased by her husband Jesse on November 3, 2011; a sister and brother-in-law: Thelma and A. Ray Stever; brother-in-law Frederick Rice. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Wednesday evening, August 3rd from 6 to 8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, August 4th at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, with her pastor, Rev. Philip Wanck, officiating.
