Archie James Moore

When someone you love becomes a memory…..the memory becomes a treasure. Our loving husband, father and grandfather Archie James Moore, 85, of Rome, Pa passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010. Archie was born on September 29, 1924 in Orwell Twp., a son of the late Charles and Fern (Gorton) Moore. He was a graduate of Rome High School and attended Williamsport Technical Institute where he studied tool making. Prior to finishing his studies at Williamsport, Archie was hired by the Ingersoll Rand Company as a tool maker. He retired in 1986 following 44 years of service. On July 15, 1950, Archie married Anita Roof and together just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Archie was a member of the Rome United Methodist Church and enjoyed fellowship with the Wysox Senior Citizens. He always looked forward to a "trip in the car" touring the countryside, camping and traveling. Archie is survived by his wife Anita, his children: James (June) Moore of Warren Center, Pa; Debi (Doug) Hicks of LeRaysville, Pa; Richard W. Moore of Rome, Pa; his sister Betty (Charles) Powers of Nokesville, VA; sister-in-law Norma Moore of North Orwell; his grandchildren: Mindy (George) Emerick of Fla; Tyler Moore of Dallas, Pa; Amanda (Julien) Fey of Ithaca, NY; Keisha (Shane) Heivly of Missoula, MT; Michael Strope of TX; great grandchildren: Gavin, Aiden, Elodie and Vivian. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Archie was predeceased by his parents Charles and Fern Moore, a brother Clarence Moore and grandson Jason Moore. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Archie's life on Thursday, July 22 at 1 pm at the Rome United Methodist Church with his pastor, Rev. K. Ben Robinson, officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 am until the time of the service at the church.
