Arline N. Taylor, 100, formerly of West Warren, passed away March 30, 2014. Arline was born on Orwell Hill, Pa. January 11, 1914, the daughter of the late Clayton V. Morris and Elizabeth M. (Ford) Morris. She was a graduate of LeRaysville High School Class of 1932. Arline married Hiram Taylor, December 15, 1934 at the Morris Family home in Rome, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband Hiram on April 30, 1987, her daughter Betty (Taylor) Canfield, sister and brother-in-law Ken and Martha Westover, sisters-in-law Matilda Wheaton, Ruth Jones, Betty Morris and nephew Walter Wheaton, and great-nephew Charles Wheaton. Growing up on her parent's farm, Arline experienced and participated in all aspects of farm work, and lived an era where travel progressed from horse and buggy to automobiles, airplanes and beyond. Arline honed the skills learned in childhood as she worked beside Hiram farming and raising their family in West Warren, PA. Arline never met a stranger, and was known for her kind, cheerful and helpful nature, she was a member of the West Warren Church, and the Ladies aid group of that church, and in later years attended Dille Parish once she moved to Towanda Senior Citizens Center. Arline's life revolved around her family and children for whom she provided encouragement and was supportive in any way possible. She was also devoted to her grandchildren for whom she enjoyed making personalized quilts and crocheted blanket. She has several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren that also kept her busy with her crocheting and quilting making blankets as long as she was physically able. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Hiram Jr. and Elaine Taylor of Nichols, NY; her son-in-law James Canfield of Woodbridge, Va.; her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Eileen Taylor of Fuquay Varina, NC; her daughter and son-in-law Katherine and Kevin Hanley of Portville, NY; brother Lyle Morris of Rome, Pa. Arline is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 25 great-great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces as well as special niece Dolores and great-niece Beth Wheaton of Windham, Pa., and many dear friends at Towanda Senior Citizens Center. Special thanks to Una Pitcher and Betty Johnson for their help, care and concern for Mom while she resided at the Towanda Senior Center. A funeral service and celebration of a life well lived for Arline will be held at Sutfin Funeral Chapel in Nichols on Thursday, April 3rd at 1pm with her granddaughter, Rev. Donna Taylor Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon until the time of the service.
