Barbara J. Westfall

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again… Barbara J. Westfall, 70, of Mt. Pleasant Rd., Nichols passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at her home. Barb is survived by her husband Randolph H. Westfall; her children: J.P. VanDyke of Nashville, TN; Ricky (Doris) VanDyke of Greenville, SC; Linnea VanDyke (Steve Rogers) of Athens; a brother and sister-in-law: William "Bill" and Margaret Miller of Brooklyn; sister and brother-in-law: Patricia (Tony) Woods of Bridgewater, NY; Randy's siblings: Ken and Cathy Westfall; Janet Westfall all of Nichols; her grandchildren: Austin, Cooper, Bobby, Storm, Drake, Lisa, Brooke, and AJ; great granddaughter Aleigha; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. Barb was predeceased by her parents John Richard "Dick" and Esther (Donaldson) Miller; and a brother John Miller. Barb was born on December 4, 1944 in Waverly, NY a daughter of the late John Richard and Esther (Donaldson) Miller. On May 18, 1991, she married Randolph Westfall and together they made Nichols their home. Barb was an active member of the Nichols Community Club, Nichols American Legion Auxiliary where she served as Past President; and a lifetime member of the Owego VFW Post 1371. Barb enjoyed gardening, raising house plants, and tending to her many cats. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her community. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, March 13th from 4 - 6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A celebration of her life will follow at 4 pm with Rev. Philip Jordan, officiating.
