Barbara Wintermute Westbrook

Barbara (Bowman) Wintermute Westbrook, 74, of Chestnut Street, Athens, PA passed away peacefully at the Sayre House on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 following a period of declining health. Barbara was born on May 31, 1933 in Sayre, PA a daughter of Shubal and Louella (Turner) Bowman. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Barbara treasured the time spent with her family. In addition she also was a member of the Athens Amercian Legion, the Milan Methodist Church and attended the Sayre Christian Church. She is survived by her husband George Westbrook of Athens, PA; her children: Deborah Miller of Waverly, NY; Brenda Lambert of Ulster, PA; Norma Burkett of Burleson, Texas, David Wintermute of Pittsburgh, PA; and Amy Arpante of Waverly, NY. Her brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert and Nancy Bowman of Lewisburg, PA; Richard and Irene Bowman of Georgia; her sisters and brother-in-law: Mary Moore of Waverly, NY; Joyce and Ted Wichert of Shinglehouse, PA; Special grandchildren: Eric Eaton of Merchantville, NJ; Marni and Janelle Lambert of East Smithfield, PA; Sarah and Kyle Caskey of Burleson, TX; a great granddaughter Stella Rose Morrison-Eaton of Merchantville, NJ. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, a son Garey Wintermute and sister Phyllis Everson. At this time and abiding with her wishes there will be no services. A family gathering and interment of her ashes will be held on her birthday, May 31, 2008 at the Tioga Point Cemetery.
