Beverly J. Shaughnessy, fondly known as Bev, passed away on August 23, 2023, in Johnson City, following a period of declining health. Born at home in Nichols, NY, on February 20, 1937, Bev lived a life full of love, kindness, and gentleness.


Bev was predeceased by her parents, Raymond J. and Gladys I. (Goodenough) Lisenby; her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Shaughnessy, who passed away on February 19, 1999; her sisters, Shirley Allen and Priscella Blair; and her brothers, Raymond and John Lisenby. Bev's memory will be forever cherished by her children, Kathleen (Jim) Arnold; Michael J. (Debbie) Shaughnessy; Karen Shaughnessy, and Kelly (Joseph) Ondrako.


Bev's legacy continues to live on in her cherished grandchildren: Gregory (Jen) Shaughnessy, Joseph (Beth) Ondrako, Allison Shaughnessy, Steve (Manish) Ondrako, and Kris (Alyssa) Arnold. Her great-grandchildren Jacob, Isabel, Taylor Marie, and Ben brought immense joy to her life. Bev also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, their families, and a circle of special friends who will miss her dearly.


Bev's professional life saw her serve as a Quality Control Inspector at IBM for two decades. Her dedication, diligence, and attention to detail during her tenure at IBM were admirable. She retired with a fond memories and a host of colleagues who became lifelong friends.


In her personal life, Bev held a deep affection for her family and was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A social butterfly, Bev enjoyed visiting on the phone and drinking a cup of hot tea while solving todays issues. A visit from the hummingbirds also brightened her day. Bev's love for cats was well known, as was her penchant for lottery tickets, BINGO, and visits to Tioga Downs. Her presence on Facebook, where she often engaged with friends and family, will be greatly missed.


Bev lived her life guided by love, kindness, and gentleness. These qualities resonated in her interactions with everyone she met, creating a ripple effect of positivity. As Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Bev's warm spirit and tender-hearted nature made everyone feel special and loved.


Bev's life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that touched so many. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her memory will forever be a beacon of love, kindness, and gentleness.
