Robert N. "Bob" Eddy, aged 84, of Windham Twp., Rome, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on March 29, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1940, in Niagara Falls, New York, Bob was a man of deep faith, generosity, and a loving spirit that touched all who knew him.
Bob's early years were spent in the scenic surroundings of Niagara Falls, where he graduated from Niagara Falls High School. His passion for the great outdoors led him to further his education in forestry, attending Paul Smith College and Utah State University. Bob's career reflected his love for nature, as he was employed at the lookout tower in Boise, Idaho. In 1969, Bob, alongside his beloved wife Carol, moved to Windham, Pennsylvania, where they embraced a life surrounded by the beauty of nature. Bob found great joy in working in his sawmill and managing the woodlands that he loved. He was a true steward of the earth, and his connection to the land was evident to all who knew him.
Family was the cornerstone of Bob's life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol of Windham, Pennsylvania; his loving children, DeeDee (Eddy) Elia of Lockwood, New York, Teresa (Adams) Hahl of Aurora, Colorado, and Randy Eddy Sr., of Waverly, New York. His brother, Warren Eddy of Cortland, New York, also remains to cherish his memory. Bob was a beloved uncle to Teresa (May) Hall of Towanda, Pennsylvania, and a doting grandfather to Aubry and Shilo McDermott; Dana and Donald DeProspero, Jr.; Cory Ray, Randy Jr., Brianna and Neceya Eddy. His legacy continues through his great-nieces, great-nephews, great-grandchildren, and cousins, who all survive him. He was predeceased by his parents Gordon S. and Norma (Marsh) Eddy respectively of English and Scottish descent.
Bob's interests and knowledge were vast, particularly when it came to World War II. He spent many an hour engrossed in history books and watching DVDs about the era, eager to learn and understand more. His faith played a significant role in his life as an active member of the Latter-Day Saints Church in Towanda. Bob's commitment to his community was evident through his involvement with the Windham Volunteer Fire Department 19 and the Nichols Fire Department.
Alongside Carol, Bob was a pillar of support for local sports, passionately backing Tioga Central's Football, Wrestling, and Baseball teams. His presence in the stands was as steadfast as his support for the young athletes he cheered on.
A quote that encapsulates Bob's approach to life is from Helen Keller: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Bob lived by this creed, offering his heart to his family, his beliefs, and his community.
We will gather to bid a final farewell to Bob, a man whose life was a testament to faith-filled love and generosity. A service to honor his life will be held on SATURDAY, APRIL 27th at 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Bob will be laid to rest in the Nichols Cemetery, where his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved.
