Charles C. Sheldon II
"Bud"
of Nichols, New York
Charles C. Sheldon II, affectionately known as Bud by those who knew and loved him most, passed away on October 6, 2024, at the age of 50. Born on March 29, 1974, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, Bud grew into a man whose life was characterized by kindness, ingenuity, and a warm, friendly demeanor that drew people to him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, epitomized by his life partner of 14 years, Jordan Ross. He was also blessed to be a dad to three beautiful daughters: Alexandra Sheldon, Marie Elizabeth Sheldon, and Kiyra Sheldon, who will carry forward their father's spirit of compassion and resilience. Bud was the cherished brother of Genva Verno, Stacy Taylor, and Peggijo Sheldon. His stepmother, Beverly Sheldon, and step-siblings, Sherri Diaz, Marshall Balzer, Michael Balzer, Laura Woodard, Beth Woodard, and John Woodard, also survive him. Bud was a beloved figure within his extended family, including Jordan’s family, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will miss his presence dearly. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Chester Sheldon, and his mother, Geneva Braunbeck Harris.
Though a disability prevented Bud from traditional employment, he never let it diminish his zest for life or his ability to contribute. His hands were gifted in the art of mechanics, and there wasn't a car he couldn't coax back to life. Bud's passion for fixing things extended beyond the garage, touching the hearts of all who knew him. He was a man who found joy in the simple things, whether it was meticulously completing color by numbers on his phone, diving into the world of video games, or playing music that brought joy to family gatherings.
Bud's culinary skills were another source of joy for his family and friends. He was famous for making the best lasagna that became the centerpiece of many family celebrations and always enjoyed a good chili dog and pizza. His sense of humor and ability to make others smile were as dependable as his handyman skills.
Kind, handy, and friendly are words that barely scratch the surface of Bud's character. He was a beacon of light in the lives of those he encountered, always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day or a helping hand for those in need. Bud's unwavering kindness and friendliness made him a beloved member of his community.
