Allen Carrington, 96, of LeRaysville, PA went home to heaven and to be reunited with his wife, Bonne, on Saturday, December 20, 2014. Allen was born on January 20, 1918 at the family farm in Orwell Twp., a son of the late Fred Elbert and Mabel (Allen) Carrington. He attended the old Orwell High School and graduated from LeRaysville High School. Allen proudly served his country with the US Air Force and graduated from Penn State University in 1939 with a degree in Poultry Husbandry. On June 18, 1943, he married Bonne Hendricks and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage until her passing on October 1, 2013. He ran a poultry farm for many years, as well as delivering eggs to retail customers in the Binghamton, NY area. Allen was a long time teacher at Northeast Bradford High School where he shared his love for farming as the Vocational Agriculture Teacher until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Potterville and enjoyed traveling all over the country to see family and friends. He was an avid golfer, and also loved camping in his pop-up trailer, which he towed to Alaska, as well as many New England campgrounds until he was 90 years old. Allen will be greatly missed by his children, Ronald A. and Maureen Carrington of Andover, MA; Dennis L. and Janice Carrington of Littleton, CO; Kerry F. and Cheryl Carrington of Charlotte, NC; Colleen K. and Gary Stanton of West Jordan, UT; Julie M. and David Wall of Lake Oswego, OR; his grandchildren: Amanda Carrington, Adam Carrington, Amy (Jim) Phipps, Frederick "Ric" (Jessica) Carrington, Natalie (Mike) Gramins, Nathan Carrington, Joel (Hilary) Stanton, Matthew (Eri) Stanton, Rachel Stanton (Alberto Liomo), Brian (Katy) Wall, Lisa (Andres) Chavez; great grandchildren: Mallory, Anne, Simon, Clover, Gideon, Mauri, Misa, Peter, Brian and Sam Allen. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive, among them a special niece, Pamela (Dick) Rockwell of Syracuse, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Bonne and sister and brother-in-law Leila and Percy Corbin. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, December 27th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols,NY. A funeral service and celebration of a life well lived for Allen will be held on Sunday, December 28th at 1:00 PM at the LeRaysville Dille Parish United Church of Christ, with Rev. Tom Burlington officiating. Interment will be in the Orwell Valley Cemetery. A time of sharing and luncheon will be held following sevices.
