C. Marie Ayers

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved so missed so very dear…..Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother C. Marie Ayers, 85, of Rome, PA passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Marie was born on June 16, 1927 in Orwell Township, Pa a daughter of the late Otto and Cornelia Sturzenegger. On December 16, 1944 she married Edsall Leonard Ayers and together they had 64 years of happiness together until his passing on June 22, 2009. Marie treasured the time spent with her family. They fondly remember her love for birds, cooking and baking. Marie also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. She will be greatly missed by her children, Elaine and Tom Comstock of Rome; Ronald and Kathleen Ayers of Rome, Stephen and Jill Ayers of Monroeton, Patricia and Claude Coon of Rome, Daniel Ayers of Rome. Twelve grandchildren: Debbie VanDerMark, Dale Comstock, Reed Comstock, Amy Hoke, Jamie Ayers, Stacy Slatter, Ashley Ayers, Brian Ayers, Jessica Stackhouse, Stephanie Larsen, Scott Coon and Meranda Abma. Twenty-two great grandchildren; a brother Ralph Sturzenegger of Florida; sisters-in-law: Vivian Dunn of Monroeton and Ann Sturzen of Towanda; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Marie was predeceased by her husband Edsall L. Ayers, daughter Sheryl, grandson Brian Keith Comstock and a brother David Sturzen. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, October 27th from 10 to 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will follow at 11 am with Pastor Karen Ballard, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow at the Bradford County Memorial Park, Luther Mills.
