Carol E. Cole, a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, in Rome Borough, Pennsylvania, on September 13, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on January 27, 1942, in Elmira, New York, Carol lived a life marked by faith, love, and family.
Carol is survived by her children Jeanne (Gene) Summers, John B. Jamison, Jennifer Eby, Stephen (Misty) Murray, Juliet (Dale) Price, and Jeffery (Melissa) Jamison. She was a cherished grandmother to Benjamin, Jonathan, Joseph, Samantha, John Patrick, Megan, Jennifer, Sarah, Denali, Adam, and John Sullivan, and great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren. Her memory will also be cherished by her caregiver and friend Brenda Fitzgerald.
She is also survived by her siblings Virginia (George) Riseborough, George "Bill" (Allie) Elston, Barbara Peck, Marty Elston, and several nieces, nephews, and their families. Carol was predeceased by her parents, George O. and Jean A. (Murphy) Elston, her daughter, Janet Lee Jamison, and her husband, Roy F. Cole.
Carol loved spending time with her family, reading, playing a fierce game of Scrabble, cooking, baking, and crocheting. She enjoyed the holidays, especially decorating and gathering with her daughters to bake Christmas cookies.
An ardent lover of nature, Carol enjoyed visiting beaches, gardens, and lighthouses. She loved traveling across America, Ireland, England, and Germany. She found peace and companionship in the company of her beloved dog, Micah, who was often by her side.
Her gentle spirit and loving nature will be dearly missed but remembered fondly.
Visitation hours will be Monday, September 18th from 5 - 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols, NY. A funeral and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, September 19th at 11 am at the funeral chapel. Carol will be laid to rest in the Rome Cemetery, Route 187, Rome, PA.
