Softly in the morning, you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you, and quietly left us all….Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Carolyn Bean Donnelly, 79, of Stanton Hill Rd., passed away on Friday, February 26, 2010 at her home. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Nathan "Mickey" Donnelly; her children: Kevin (Tamara) Donnelly of Nichols; Darryl (Debra) Donnelly of Stevensville, Pa; Janet Schuster (Kerry Groomes) of Sayre, Pa; sister Mabel Manchester of Rome, Pa; brother-in-law: Fred Cornell of Nichols; grandchildren: Anthony and Hannah Schuster; Kristen and Taylor Donnelly; Dalton and Dillon Donnelly; great grandson Landon James Woodburn; several nieces, nephews and their families along with a host of friends also survive. Carolyn was predeceased by her brothers Francis and Robert Bean; sisters Margery Cornell and Bernadine Buskirk. Carolyn was born on May 29, 1930 in Nichols a daughter of the late Frank E. and Lillian (Cole) Bean. She was a graduate of the Nichols High School class of 1949. On November 17, 1951 she married Nathan J. Donnelly and together they made Nichols their home and owned and operated the family dairy farm. For many years, Carolyn actively participated with the growth of the area youth by being a 4-H Leader and was instrumental in the Tioga County Dairy Princess program for over 44 years and had received the "Outstanding Women of the Year Award" for all her hard work and dedication to the program. She was a member Nichols chapter of Order of Eastern Stars, the Nichols Presbyterian Church, Farm Bureau, Young Farmers, Chairman and Inspector for the Election Board Committee. Always caring a smile and a hug, she enjoyed fellowship with the "Lounsberry Social Club", enjoyed bowling, sewing and being a friend to many. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Tuesday, March 2nd from 3-7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Order of Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7 pm. Funeral services and time of remembering the special gift Carolyn was to all of us will be held on Wednesday, March 3rd at 12 noon at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jon Austin, officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
