Carolyn J. Newman

Our hearts still ache in sadness, and secret tears still flow, what it meant to lose you, no one will ever know .....Our loving mom, grandma, sister, and friend Carolyn J. "Cookie" Newman, 70, of North Orwell, Pa passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013. Carolyn was born on September 7, 1943 at home in West Warren, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Llewellyn and Ruth (Taylor) Jones. Cookie was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School Class of 1961. For many years, she was employed at Kveragas' Meat Plant and retired from GTP in 2005. She enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar and singing, reading, bowling, fishing and treasured the time spent with her grandchildren. Cookie will be greatly missed by her children: Richard and Wendy Newman, Jr. of Ulster, Pa; Joel R. Newman and Sherry Benjamin of Rome Twp., Jeanne M. Newman of Erie, Pa; her grandchildren: Nate (Chelsea) Newman, Luke, Danielle, Jacob Newman, Houston, Jadon, Landon and Payton Swope. Her sisters and brother-in-law: Janice and Barry Wilkins of Warren Center, Pa; Darlene Dunham of Apalachin; a brother and sister-in-law: Ronnie and Cheri Jones of Rome, Pa; her special friend Cora Gardner of Rome, Pa; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant brother Olyn Jones and a brother-in-law Robert Dunham. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Thursday evening, October 10th from 6 to 8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 11th at 10 am at the funeral chapel with Pastor C. Kenneth Crain and Pastor Benjamin Miller, officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley Home Cemetery.
