Charyle L. Rice, 64, of Barr Road, Nichols passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital following a period of declining health. Charyle was born on June 29, 1947 in Waverly, NY one of ten children to Charles and Elmerna O. (Moon) Burdick. On April 18, 1974 she married Kenneth W. Rice. Charyle was a nurse's aid and also worked in housekeeping at the Robert Packer Hospital. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, fishing and being surrounded by her family. Charyle is survived by her husband of 37 years Kenneth W. Rice; her children: Virginia and Richard Campbell; Charles and Tonya Benson, Betty and Richard Myers, Donald and Heather Rice, Margarett and Allen Lowman. Seventeen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many others who she opened her arms and heart to. A brother and sister-in-law: Gene and Millie Spicer; sisters: and brothers-in-law: Twila and Tom Myers, Mista and Ben Lopez, Linda and Fred VanNorman, Carolyn Spicer; brother-in-law: Charles Feduke. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Tom and Patricia Rice; sister-in-law: Barbara Rice; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. A special thank you for the caregivers and our friends at 5 Main, especially P.J., Jenn, T.J. and Shelly. Charyle was predeceased by her parents; and siblings: Donald Spicer, Helen Feduke; Claude "Fred" Spicer. Family and friends are invited a period of visitation on Thursday, August 4th from 3 to 4 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A time of sharing memories and a service will be held at 4 pm at the funeral chapel.
