Chester "Chet" Levine Deming

Chester Levine Deming, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 at his home in Nichols, NY. Born in Lawrenceville, Pa on December 11, 1922 to Winfield W. and Lora Bell Myfelt Deming. "Chet" was the seventh of nine children. He graduated in 1941 from Nichols High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on January 15, 1942. While stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, Chet married Juanita June Wilcox Deming on September 12, 1942. Chet and June celebrated 67 years of marriage last September. Chet served in the Pacific as an in-flight engineer. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and resumed employment with IBM, where he remained for his entire professional career. Most recently of Stanton Hill Road, Nichols, Chet enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, baseball, black jelly beans, and his porch. He was a member of the Masonic Westbrook Lodge #333 and past Grand Officer of the Order of Eastern Star. Chet is survived by his wife June and children Sue Deming (Charles) Alger, Marsha Deming (Rodney) Bouchoux, Edward Chester (Delisa) Deming, Donna Deming (Philip) Anderson, Raymond James (Denise) Deming. Grandfather to 14 and great grandfather to 17. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Dad will be missed by those who loved and cared for him. A time of sharing memories and period of visitation will be held on Friday, June 25th from 11 to 1pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Masonic and Eastern Star services will precede a funeral service and celebration of Chet's life at 1 pm. Interment and prayers of committal with military honors will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
