Cora Sutton Gardner

Softly in the evening you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all……Cora Sutton Gardner, 86, of Battle Creek Rd., Ulster, Pa, passed away on Sunday evening, March 13, 2016 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre following a period of declining health. Cora was born on July 27, 1929 in Center Moreland, Pa a daughter of John and Angeline (Hunt) Sutton. She was a graduate of Rush High School class of 1948. On September 7, 1948 she married Jesse M. Gardner, together they shared many happy memories until his passing on September 15, 2003. Cora was a member of the Bumpville Bible Church and for many years, worked at area restaurants to include The Pepper Shaker in Towanda, Settlers in Nichols, the Nichols and Towanda Country Clubs. She enjoyed cooking, baking and being surrounded by her family. Cora is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Norman and Michelle Gardner of Ulster, Pa; four grandchildren: Jeremy and his wife Tara Gardner of Rome, Pa; Donavan Hunsinger of Ohio; Stacy and her husband Carl Vandevort of Little Meadows, Pa; Jessica Gardner of Ulster, Pa. Eleven great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Cora was welcomed into heaven by her husband Jesse M. Gardner, her daughter Joanne Gardner; sisters Hazel Barrett, Rose Kovalick, and a brother William Sutton. Until we meet again Mom, may you find comfort in the arms of the angels. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Wednesday, March 16th from 6pm to 8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of Cora's life will be held on Thursday, March 17th at 11 am at the funeral chapel with Pastor C. Kenneth Crain and Pastor Ben Miller, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Birchardville Cemetery.
