When someone you love becomes a memory….the memory becomes a treasure….Craig A. "Bake" Baker, 47, of Vandekarr Rd., Barton, NY passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Craig was born on September 27, 1961 in Waverly, NY a son of Shirley (Wright) and the late Gerald Baker. Craig was a graduate of Waverly High School class of 1979. During his high school years, Craig had participated in football and baseball. He also attended BOCES in Horseheads and studied welding as a trade. Craig was employed as a machinist with Synthes, Woods Machine Shop, and American LaFrance. He was a member of the Nichols Fire Department and treasured the many friends he had there. Craig truly had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid fan of NASCAR fan. In addition to his mother Shirley Baker of Waverly, Craig is survived by his wife Holly (Gray) Baker; his daughter Mary Baker; granddaughter Stephanie Dennison all of Barton; Aunts and Uncles: Phyllis and Arthur DuBois of Coudersport, Pa; Joyce Baker of Hemet, California; Janice and Thomas Savino of Elmira; Marla Decker of Waverly, NY: June McClure of Waverly, NY; Carol and John Weston of Elmira; Glenn and Linda Baker of Newnan, Georgia; his father-in-law: Thomas Gray of Elmira; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Glenn Gray of Elmira; Gary and Patricia Gray of Cayuta, NY; Terry and Karen Gray of Elmira; special friends: Duane "Gov" Perry, Kevin Campbell, Jeanie Bishop, Barb Ward and Jody Short, several nieces, nephews and a special cousin Brent Mitchell. Craig was predeceased by his father Gerald Baker, Uncle Carl Baker and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Gray. A time of remembering the special gift Craig was to all of us will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 5 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with Pastor Larry D. Jennings of the Warren Center Baptist Church, officiating. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Thursday from 1 pm until the time of the service at 5 pm.
