Darlene Lee (Williams) Capel, a spirited soul known for her sass and straightforward charm, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, at the Robert Packer Hospital following a brief illness. Born on July 21, 1948, in Waverly, NY, Darlene's journey through life was one marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family.


Darlene's life was one rich with relationships and experiences. She was the beloved wife of Frederick R. Capel, with whom she shared an enduring love since they united in marriage on May 10, 2008. Her daughter, who was the pride and joy of her life Kimberly (Michael) Waters; her step children: Donovan (Kim) Capel, Christina Capel, Frederick R. Mabee. She cherished every moment spent with her family. Her love extended to her granddaughter – Mackenzie Bostwick and her daughter Kinsley; she will also be missed by her step grandchildren: Chyanne, Desarae, Nicole, Taylor and Riley - and step great-grandchildren Cash and Riker.


Darlene's legacy is also carried on by her sisters, Linda (Jim) Crain; Gloria Park, her brother-in-law Carl Beers, and her sister-in-law Vicki Reynolds. She will also be missed by Fred’s siblings: Rosebud and Bill Cooper, Jess Abbot, Timothy Abbott. She was predeceased by her parents, James P. and Florence C. Reynolds, her sister Patricia Beers, her brother James Reynolds, and her brother-in-law Jan Park. Darlene's extended family, including several nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families, will remember her fondly for her loving and thoughtful nature.

A graduate of Sayre High School, class of 1966, Darlene's vibrant personality made her a favorite bartender at the VFW in Sayre, PA. Her patrons will miss her ability to light up the room with her presence and serve not just drinks but also kindness and joy.


Darlene's interests were as varied as they were passionate. She was an avid bowler, a skilled hunter, and an enthusiastic fisherwoman. She found freedom in exploring the countryside on her ATV and was a devoted NASCAR fan of Dale Jr. Camping trips were cherished times, and nothing brought her more happiness than watching her granddaughter ride her horse. Darlene's love for her pets, Diesel, Peaches, and Heffy, reflected her great love for all animals.


Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, September 14th from 10 – 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A gathering celebrating her life will follow at the cabin.
