Roslyn Dawn Kohler, lovingly known as Dawn, passed away peacefully in her home in Campville, NY, on October 14, 2023. Born on February 21, 1937, in Lincklaen, NY, Dawn was a beacon of love, generosity, and faith throughout her 86 years on this earth.
Dawn is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Pastor William E. Kohler, and their children, Sherry Marlowe, Bill (Tina) Kohler, and Mark (Bette) Kohler. Dawn's cherished grandchildren include Nichole (Dylan) Morgan, Laura Marlowe, Peter (Claire) Kohler and Rachel (Caleb) Follmer. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Levi and Haley Morgan , Gabriel and Reese Kohler and Isaiah Follmer. Dawn's surviving siblings are her brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Nancy Long, and her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn Long and Chris Thater. She will be missed by several nieces, nephews, and a large circle of church friends from the Windham Community and the Owego Baptist Church.
Dawn's professional life was spent as a bookkeeper for Manwaring Farm Equipment in Whitney Point, where her attention to detail and dedication were greatly appreciated. However, she was known first and foremost as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always ensuring her family was well cared for and loved.
As the wife of a pastor, Dawn's faith was a large part of her identity. She shared the love of the Lord with many and was fondly known as "Aunt Dawn" by her church family. Her compassion was palpable, and she often ministered to the Children's Ministry, Vacation Bible Schools, and summer programs, sharing her love for the Lord with all.
Beyond her devotion to her faith and family, Dawn was also known for her talents in the kitchen and with a crochet hook. A skilled cook and baker, she delighted in creating meals that brought her family together. Her crocheted blankets are cherished keepsakes for her children and grandchildren, and her handcrafted hats brought warmth and comfort through the KIND Project.
In the words of Mother Teresa, "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." This quote exemplifies Dawn's life. Her generous spirit, loving heart, and faith-filled life brought joy to everyone she met. Dawn was a woman who truly embodied the spirit of giving and loving without expecting anything in return.
Dawn's legacy of faith, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family members and the many lives she touched throughout her life. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. Dawn's life was a testament to the power of love and faith, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
