Softly in the morning, you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you, and quietly left us all… Our hearts were saddened with the sudden loss of such a wonderful and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend Deville E. "Dell" Boardman, 54 of North Orwell, Pa. Dell, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born on September 18, 1953, in Towanda a son of the late Donald E. and Nelsie (Manchester) Boardman. He was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School Class of 1971. During his school years, Dell participated in band playing the string bass and the bass horn. On December 23, 1972 he married his classmate Susan Davis, and together they shared many memories and raised four children. Dell assisted his parents in the operation of the family dairy farm which continues to be operated by his son Daniel. He loved to farm and treasured the time spent with his family. For nearly 20 years, Dell served as a board member of the Northeast Bradford School District and spent ten of those years as board president. In addition, he also served on the board for the Northern Tier Career Center and the North Orwell Cemetery Association. He will be greatly missed by many and his memory will live on within each of our hearts. Dell is survived by his wife of 35 years Susie; children Casey D. Boardman of Waltham, MA, Jay D. Boardman of Pittsburgh, PA, Daniel E. Boardman of North Orwell, Emily J. Boardman of Camp Hill, PA; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Andy and Missy Boardman of Rome, Pa; Avery and Erica Boardman of Towanda, Pa; his sisters and brothers-in-law: Nancy and Dale Holden of Earlville, NY; Linda Gibney of Statesville, NC; Amy and Mark Rejmer of Bogart, GA; his mother-in-law Jean Davis, his aunts and uncles: Beryl and James Cleary; Lois and Bruce Yeagle and Mabel Manchester; brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Dell was predeceased by his mother Nelsie on January 13, 2003 and his father Donald E. Boardman on October 13, 2007. A Celebration of Dell's life will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols with Pastor K. Ben Robinson, of the North Orwell Union Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the North Orwell Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Wednesday, February 20th from 1-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the funeral chapel.
