Donald E. Salisbury, Sr. 81, of W. Whitcomb Hill Rd., Barton, N.Y., went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, March 7th 2009 following a period of declining health. Don was born on December 12, 1927 in Windsor, NY a son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Parsons) Salisbury. He was a graduate of Windsor High School and was a long time engineer for IBM, Owego. On August 3, 1985 in Windsor, he married Dorothy J. Boniface. Together they have shared many happy memories and special times together. Don was a member of the Tioga Center United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School. He was also a member of the Nichols American Legion. Following his retirement, Don enjoyed spending time outdoors on his backhoe. He was always willing to assist his friends and neighbors in a time of need. Don is survived by his wife of 23 years Dorothy J. Salisbury; his maternal children: Donald (Sherry) Salisbury, Jr. of Owego, NY, Nancy (Mike) Sturdevant; Annette Ryan, Binghamton, NY; Albert (Melissa) Salisbury of Timberlake, NC; Dorothy's children, Diane (Fianc Dave Gilliand) Perry of Barton, NY; Dan (Fianc DeDe) Perry of Waverly, NY; Donald Perry of Boston, Ma; his sisters: Marie (Bill) Johnston, Bethel Julleraut, Ray (Lois) Salisbury, Jan Modder and a brother-in-law: John Admodosky; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends also survive. Don was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Esther Warner, Retha Admodosky and Grace Burns. A funeral services and celebration of Don's life will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 12 noon at the Tioga Center United Methodist Church with his pastor Rev. Laurence Mather, OSL officiating. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Thursday, March 12 from 6 to 8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols and on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service at the church.
