Donald J. Mitchell

Donald J. Mitchell, 72, of Rome, Pa went home to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, August 28, 2011 following a period of declining health. Don was born on September 30, 1938 in Franklin, Pa. He was a graduate of Montrose High School and proudly served his country with the US Navy. On July 31, 1961, Don married Elberta Everitt and together they celebrated fifty yearsof marriage. Don was employed by Bush Transformer in Endicott for ten years and retired from DuPont following 27 years. He was a member of the Hope Baptist Church, a long time member of the Rome Fire Company; Wysox Emergency Squad and the Western Alliance Ambulance. Don will be remembered for his care and concern he showed to others. He is now spending time with his Lord and Savior. Don is survived by his wife Elberta; his children: Jeffrey Mitchell of Binghamton, NY; Randy Mitchell of Binghamton, NY; Tammy (David) Wildrick of Stevensville, PA; and Mychail (Jennifer) Mitchell of Elizabethtown, Pa; his grandchildren: Pamela (Jeremy) Casselbury; Sally Wildrick; Austin Mitchell; great grandchildren: Breanna, Joshua and Vanessa; and his faithful canine companion Cheroke. He was predeceased by his parents and his mother in law and father in law: Vera Chamberlain and Wells Everitt. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 31st from 4:30pm until 6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services will follow at 6pm.
