Doris Irene Dutton

Doris Irene (Nye) Dutton, 84, a resident of the Bradford County Manor and formerly of Warren Center, passed away and went home to be reunited with her husband Charles G. Dutton on Thursday, March 4, 2010. Doris was born on May 13, 1925 in Nichols, NY a daughter of the late Helen (Morse) and John B. Nye. Doris had attended school in Litchfield and for many years was employed as a packer for the Sayre Lingerie. On December 3, 1945 in Chemung, NY she married Charles G. Dutton, he predeceased her in death on June 3, 1997. Doris enjoyed listening to polka and country music, doing word search books and being surrounded by her family. Doris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: John Sr. and Kathy Dutton of Waverly, NY; daughter Patricia Nichols of Sayre, Pa; sister and brother-in-law: Marylou and Harry Vannicola of Hornell, NY; a sister Kathryn Slater of Owego, NY; brother and sister-in-law: Gerald and Lois Nye of Tioga Center, NY; her grandchildren: Sue (Jim) Middaugh, Scott (Kristen) Nichols; Kevin (Tara) Nichols, Amy (Cameron) VanNorman, John (Corrinna) Dutton; Great grandchildren: Devin and Alyson Middaugh, Taylor, Tristian, Mackenzie Nichols; Brielle and Brinley Nichols; Tiffany and Jacob Dutton; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Doris was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles and siblings: Donald Nye, Kenneth Nye, Lucille Westover and Elinor Goodwin. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, March 8th from 2-3 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of Doris' life will be held following visitation at 3pm with family friend, Pastor Russell A. Dewing, officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
