Doris May Heath

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved so missed, so very dear….Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and dear friend Doris May Heath, 96, of Waverly passed away following a brief period of declining health. Doris was born on July 31, 1919 in Waverly, NY a daughter of Laurence Miller and Emily Samantha (Grippen) Springstead. At the young age of 18, Doris married Donald E. Heath, on May 11, 1937~ together they celebrated sixty-six years of marriage until his passing in 2004. Her greatest pleasure, was being a farmer's wife, and that she was for seventy-eight years. Doris was a member of the North Barton Grange and a former member of the Waverly Moose and Barton Fire Department. She enjoyed reading, completing crossword puzzles and tending to her gardens. Doris treasured her friends, and always looked forward to the evening visits from Liel Stevens, Jr. She will be greatly missed by her family and many dear friends. Doris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Janice and Robert Tubbs of Clinton, CT; her special grandchildren: Debra Tubbs Brockett of Clinton, CT; Brenda and her husband Paul Griswold of Higganum, CT; Melissa and her husband Duane Gates of Deep River, CT; her five great grandchildren: PJ, Matthew, Chelsea, Lindsey and Ally; and was blessed to have four great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and their families also survive; and her faithful and much loved dog Pal. Doris was predeceased by her husband Donald E. Heath on March 11, 2004 and her sisters: Elnora Waterman and Lenora Taylor. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Tuesday, September 15th from 10 - 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will follow at 12 pm at the chapel. Doris will be laid to rest, beside her loving husband in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Waverly.
