A mother holds her child's hand for a little while and their hearts forever……Dorothy M. Rapp, 85, of W. Whitcomb Hill Rd., passed away on Wednesday evening, November 7, 2012 following a brief period of declining health. Dorothy is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Kirk and Penny Rapp; Kent Rapp; her sisters: Marjorie King Brauman and Della Heiss; grandchildren: Jeremy (Deidre) Rapp, Lindsay Rapp, Brandon Rapp, Rich (Dawn) Savacool, Chris (Amanda) Savacool, Wesley (April) Stephens, Greg (Jessica) Stephens; great grandchildren: Caden, Carolina, Shannon, Connor, Gavin, Liem, Parker, Amara. She was predeceased by her parents Nellie and Lee Roy Zellers; her husband Merlyn C. Rapp. Dorothy was born on April 1, 1927 in Page, Nebraska a daughter of Nellie (Bryant) and Lee Roy Zellers. She was one of twelve to graduate from Page High School in 1945 and continued her studies in business at the Lincoln School of Commerce. On July 3, 1954, she married Merlyn C. Rapp and together they shared 44 years of happiness until his passing on April 5, 1999. Dorothy was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church and participated with the United Methodist Women. Dorothy served as a Clerk for the Tioga County Department of Social Services. She enjoyed square dancing and spending time in her garden. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Dorothy's life on Saturday, November 10th at 2 pm at the Nichols United Methodist Church, Main St., Nichols, with Pastor Dan Martin, officiating.
