When someone you love becomes a memory….the memory becomes a treasure. Surrounded by the land that he loved so much, Douglas E. Hall, 70, of Briggs Hill Road, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 doing what he loved to do best~being outdoors. Doug is survived by his wife, Lila (Roberts) Hall; sons David Hall; Dereck (Karen) Hall, Damon Hall; step children: Amy (Tim) Worden, Allan (Kelly) Dukerich; his special grandchildren: Shandiin, Hunter, Brandon, Connor, Adam, Stephanie, Chelsea; brothers Robert (Dolly) Hall; Richard Hall; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Ed and Florence Roberts; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Darlene (Rob) Howland, Cindy (Denny) Swartz, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Vincent (Joan) Roberts, Marvin (Linda) Roberts, Joseph Roberts; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. Doug was born on May 14, 1940 in Sidney, NY a son of the late H. Douglas and Janet (Ogborn) Hall. He was a graduate of Elk Lake High School class of 1958 and had attended Penn State University. Doug was a former employee of Bendix and retired from IBM, Owego following 30 years of service. Loving to be outdoors, Doug spent time on many area farms as a youth. He enjoyed trapshooting, tieing his own flies, fly-fishing and hunting with his sons, and being surrounded by his family. His fond memories also include, a trip to Labrador fly-fishing, traveling to Alaska with Lila in 2009 and wintering in Florida. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Doug's life on Wednesday, November 24th at 11 am at the Lounsberry United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jon Austin, officiating. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 7 to 9pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
