Edward C. Kaminski of Windham, PA
Edward C. Kaminski, affectionately known as Ed by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at the Athens Health and Rehab Center at the age of 85. Born on April 27, 1940, in Sayre, Ed was a man whose handy skills made him a cherished member of his community.
Ed's journey began as a young boy in LeRaysville, where he attended school until the 8th grade. At that young age, he took on the responsibility of helping on the family farm. This early experience of responsibility and labor laid the foundation for what would become a lifetime of service and entrepreneurship. He later owned and operated his own successful excavating business, through which he forged countless relationships.
He was a devoted father to his children: David and Terri Ham; Louise Woodruff; Connie and Scott Schmeckenbecher; Deb Ham and Tim Robinson; Diane and Bill Zeigler. His legacy continues through his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons of kindness and perseverance he instilled in them. Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife, Madeline R. (Stevens) Kaminski, and his children: Robert, Bonnie, Leo, Gail, and Rick; and son-in-law William Woodruff and dear friend Dave Moore. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carolyn (Legas) Kaminski.
Ed's life was enriched by his special friends, Doug Soden, Gale Bowen, and Barb Moore, who stood by him through the many seasons of his life. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
An active member of his community, Ed was a member of the Windham Township Vol. Fire Company, where his contributions were invaluable. His commitment to others was evident in everything he did, from his work to his volunteer service. Ed also had a passion for attending auctions, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for the value of things both old and new. Many will remember him for his delight in finding a hidden gem amongst the myriad of items. These simple pleasures brought a spark to Ed's eye and a story to share with anyone willing to listen.
Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, February 6th from 4 – 6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
