Elizabeth "Betty" I. Darling

Elizabeth "Betty" I. Darling, 85, of Warren Center, Pa passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at her home. Betty was born on October 23, 1924 in Warren Center, Pa, a daughter of the late Albert and Gladys (Manchester) Dewing. She attended school in Warren Center until the 11th grade and was a graduate of the Vestal High School Class of 1942. On December 23, 1944 she married her childhood friend, Norman Darling. In her earlier years, Betty was employed by Endicott Johnson. Later, in addition to farming she worked for Headstart and also Bradford County Daycare. For thirty years, many will remember Betty and Norm serving as Star Route Carriers. Betty was a member of the West Warren Congregational Church, a member of the Warren Center Ladies Fire Auxiliary, enjoyed reading, baking, and gardening, although her greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by her family, particularly her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years Norman Darling; her children, daughters and son-in-law: Dawn and Jim Bombard; Sharon and Chip Hale; Susie and Gary Seifert; Norma and Jim Santacrose; sons and daughters-in-law: Eugene "Pete" and Jill Darling; Frank and Bonnie Darling; Rick Darling; son-in-law Bob Wright; her siblings: Carol Darling; Robert (Martha) Dewing, Russell (Ruth) Dewing; sisters-in-law:Mary Dewing and Grace Dewing; her special grandchildren: Scott (Leanne) Bombard, Mimi (Tom) Swartley, Wendy (Rick) Newman, Mark (Raina) Wright, Laura Wright, Leslie (Joe) Pasco, Greg (Faith)Darling, Keith Darling, Jamie (Kelly) Chaffee, Sara Chaffee, Tim (Abbie) Chaffee, Theresa (Pat) Boyer, Christian (Rob) Abell, Mike Santacrose, Jesse Santacrose, Kayla Darling and Zach Darling. Great grandchildren Trinity, Dwight, Matt, Beth, Jared, Nate, Luke, Ian, Phelan, Skylar, Kiera, Ashley, Taylor, Riley, Andrew, Elijah, Lavella, Jonah, Hunter, Jordyn, Isaiah, Asher, Emma, Judah, Abby, Daisy, Malachi and Elise. Betty was predeceased by her parents, daughter Nancy Wright, grandson Joe Santacrose and siblings: Paul and Max Dewing. Funeral services and a celebration of life for Betty will be held on Monday, December 14th at 10 am at the West Warren Congregational Church with her pastor Rev. David Pitcher, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sleeper Hill Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Sunday, December 13th from 2-6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S.
