Elizabeth Wanzo, 76 "Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand, I am tired, I am weak, I am worn through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light;….take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home" Our loving wife, mother, grandmother Elizabeth "Betty" Wanzo, 76 of Windham Summit, went home to be with her precious Lord on Monday morning, July 30, 2007 following a period of declining health. Betty was born on June 18, 1931 in Seymour, Indiana a daughter of the late Frank and Lida (Bostwick) Robertson. For many years, Betty owned and operated Wanzo's Archery Shop where she was known for her handcrafted arrows and bows. She also enjoyed golfing, sewing, knitting and spending time in her flower gardens. In addition Betty was a devoted member of the Windham Summit Bible Church where she served as church treasurer. Betty also was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Nichols; a member of the Windham Fire Company and served on the Board of Elections. Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years Carlton L. Wanzo; her daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Howard Horrocks of Chemung; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Deb Wanzo of Nichols; a brother and sister-in-law John and Hilda Robertson of Florida; Bonnie Thomas of Florida; eight special grandchildren: Nicole, Mindy and her husband Travis; Becky and her husband Steve, Tabatha, Jacksin, Michelle and her husband Dan; Amy; and Michael. Eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Lida Robertson; her half brother Stuart and half sisters Dorothy and Frances. Family and friends are invited to a time of remembering and celebration Betty's life on Thursday, August 2nd 2007 at 11 am at the Windham Summit Bible Church, with her pastor, Rev. C. Kenneth Crain, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Wednesday, August 1st from 6 to 8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols.
