A mother holds her child's hand for a little while and their hearts forever……Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother Ella Louise (House) Gallow, 89, of Bridge Street, Barton passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Elderwood Nursing facility, Waverly. Ella was born on December 5, 1921 in Waverly, NY a daughter of the late Solomon D. and Olive (Burke) House. She was a graduate of Owego Free Academy class of 1939. On September 28, 1942 she married Lawrence E. Gallow and together they have shared nearly sixty-nine years of happiness. Ella was a devoted member of the Smithboro United Methodist Church, where she assisted with the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed cooking, baking, completing crossword puzzles, although her greatest enjoyment was found being surrounded by her family. Ella treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandsons. Ella is survived by her husband Lawrence, her daughter Deborah Hottle and her special friend George Smith; her grandsons, Lynn R. and his wife Shawn Hottle who were so willing to help when needed; Lyle H. Hottle; great grandsons: Jacob, Joshua and Theron. A brother John House; sisters Carolyn (Bob) McCarthy; Susan Carpenter; Betty (Pete) Plestis and Gladys Kucher. Several nieces, nephews and special neighbors Ray and Pat Horton. Ella was predeceased by her brother Edward House, brothers-in-law: Michael Kuchner and Norman Carpenter; nephews: Keith Shrauger, Steven Shrauger, Jr., and Trevor Shrauger. Funeral services and a celebration of Ella's life will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 2pm at the Smithboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna Martin, officiating. Interment will follow in the Smithboro Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at 2pm at the church.
