When I come to the end of the road, and sun has set for me, remember the love that we have shared, and that will comfort thee…. On Saturday, January 1, 2011 surrounded by his loving family, Elmer C. Comstock of Comstock Rd., Ulster, Pa went to his heavenly home and to be reunited with is wife Kathryn. A life long resident of Rome Township, Elmer was a well respected dairy farmer. Elmer was born on March 26, 1919 a son of the late Harry and Edna (Babcock) Comstock. He was a graduate of Rome High School Class of 1938 and on December 9, 1941 he married Kathryn Baker and together they shared 53 years of marriage until her passing in 1994. Elmer was a member of the Windham Summit Bible Church where he served as Deacon. For nearly 46 years, Elmer served as Rome Township Supervisor and in addition had also served as Secretary/Treasure. A loving and kind man, Elmer found great pleasure being surrounded by his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elmer is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law Thomas and Elaine Comstock; Ronald Comstock all of Comstock Rd., Ulster; grandchildren: Dale Thomas (Judy) Comstock; Reed Dennis (Dawn) Comstock; Deborah (Kurt) VanDerMark all of Rome, Pa; great grandchildren: Deidra and Dallas VanDerMark, Tyler and Carrie Comstock, Shawnee and Hunter Comstock and Amanda Keller. His Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law: Bernard and Mary Baker of Towanda, Richard Morse of Rome, Evelyn Baker of Towanda; Dorothy Baker of Camptown, Doris Baker of Dushore, several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Special friends: Mark and Billie Parker, Ivan and Irene West; Boyd and Sherry Harrington. Elmer was predeceased by his parents, his wife Kathryn; brother Clayton Comstock 1975 and a grandson Brian Keith Comstock in 1970. Funeral services and a celebration of Elmer's life will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 11 am a the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with Pastor C. Kenneth Crain, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Monday evening, January 3rd 2011 from 7 to 9 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel.
