Ethel M. Pitcher of Endicott NY passed on June 18, 2024. Ethel was born on February 23, 1950; the youngest daughter of her loving parents, Glenn and Margaret (Brainard) Pitcher. She enjoyed wonderful times surrounded by their love and support of many relatives and families of the community of Warren Center.
Ethel was predeceased by her father (1963); only 52 years old. Her mother (2015) lived to be just days from her 104th birthday -- how very gracious God was to allow these many years together. Other loved ones that predeceased her: brother-in-law Jim Wheeler (2004), sister Ruth Weaver (2009), special friend Tom Sechrist (2015), nephew Bob Wheeler (2020).
Ethel is survived by family that she loved and enjoyed many activities with: her sister Elma Wheeler of Towanda PA, brother Carl (Donna) Pitcher of Warren Center, and sister Doris (Duane) Beavan of Endicott NY. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families who have brought much enjoyment to her life. She is also survived by a very caring neighbor and friend, Keith Verhoeven.
Ethel graduated from Northeast Bradford High School in 1968 and began working at IBM (Endicott NY) and continued there until her retirement. Then for some years worked for the Broome County Council of Churches. Her interests were much involved with local racing and NASCAR too -- enjoyed going to the Daytona 500 in Daytona FL and the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. She enjoyed watching the Little League World Series and shared that with her sister Elma. And, football too – especially the Washington Redskins! With her mother, she attended the World’s Fair in New York City and also in Knoxville TN. Other trips with family were to Myrtle Beach SC, Virginia Beach VA, and Disney World in Florida – fun times – all treasured times!
Ethel faced her life journey with great courage and found contentment in life. All who knew and loved her have a tremendous void in their hearts -- our dear sister, our aunt, our friend.
The family will have a private memorial service and Ethel will be buried next to her mother and father at the Warren Center Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting her guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com
