Evelyn L. Huddle

Evelyn L. Huddle, 98, of Huddle Rd., Rome, Pa passed away on Friday morning, January 22, 2016 at the Elderwood Health Care Facility in Waverly. Evelyn was born on November 3, 1917 in Owasso, Michigan a daughter of the late Frederick Schafenberg and Mayme (Coleman) Bassett. She was a graduate of the Nichols High School. Evelyn was a long time member of the Windham Ladies Aid Society, Wappassening Grange and attended the Nichols United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to music and was a strong supporter of Joe Paterno, the Yankees and Tiger Woods. Evelyn will be missed by her sons and daughter-in-law: Thomas Ryan of Rome; William and Mary Ryan of Rome; her daughter and son-in-law: Jean and Donald Brown of Rome; son-in-law Emory Ball of Nichols; sister-in-law: June Schafenberg of Apalachin, NY; ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and their families also survive. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Huddle in 1986; her daughter Judith Ball in 2008; brothers: Rosslyn Schafenberg and Richard Schafenberg; a sister Betti Williamson and a grandson James Edward Brown. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Tuesday, January 26th from 1 - 2 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of her life will follow at 2 pm. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
