Evelyn "Pick" Snedeker

June 2, 1922 — January 4, 2011

A Mother holds her children's hand for a while, their hearts forever……Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend Evelyn "Pick" Snedeker, 88 of Windham, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully with her family at her side Tuesday evening, January 4, 2011. Evelyn was born on June 2, 1922 in Orwell Twp., Pa, a daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Hayward) Olmstead. On September 4, 1941, she married Richard Snedeker and they shared 43 years of marriage and raised nine children. Evelyn was a member of the Windham Ladies Auxiliary, enjoyed gardening, birdwatching and was devoted to her family. She treasured the time spent with them, whether it was a girls weekend camping or a summer family picnic. Her smile and caring heart will be missed by all of us. Evelyn is survived by her children: Donna Every of Reinholds, Pa; Joan (Keith) Chilson of Rome, Pa; Richard (Joan) Snedeker of Rome, Pa; Laura (Paul) Gogets of Myerstown, Pa; Barbara (Louis) Martin of Rome, Pa; Robert (Sharon) Snedeker of Reinholds, Pa; Kim Snedeker of Waverly, NY; Carla (Joe) Mente of Waverly, NY; her sisters Laura Antisdel of Rome, Pa; Linda Starlipper of Bernville, Pa; a brother Dan Olmstead of Wyalusing, Pa; grandchildren: Cindy, Frank, Cheri, Ronnie, Michelle, Keith, Todd, Brandon, Shawntel, Mike, Nicole, Nocona, Samantha, Steven, Rebekah, Jason, Ashley, Paige, Eric and Jordan. Great grandchildren: Luke, Emily, Alexandra, Garrett, Thomas, Patrick, Derek, Sabrina, Zachary, Zane, Skyler, Taten, Kiersten, Jessie, Bradley, Lauren, Rylie, Madilyn and Paisley. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Richard Snedeker, Sr. in 1983; daughter Edith "Annie" Maffei; and siblings Alan Olmstead, LaVern Olmstead and Louise Baldwin. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Sunday, January 9th from 12-2pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of Evelyn's life will follow at 2pm with Pastor Donna Martin, officiating.
