Everett S Cook Jr, 81, of Rome Township passed away peacefully August 5th at his home with his family by his side.

Everett was born in Waterbury CT to Everett S. Cook Sr. and Minnie (Palmitier) Cook. The youngest of their five children, he is survived by his sister Beverly Sklanka (D. Joseph Sklanka). He was predeceased by his siblings John Cook (D. Evelyn Cook), Ruth Clark, Sally Shilke. He grew up in Watertown CT, attended Waterbury Vo Tech for the agriculture program, where he was also active in their FFA Chapter as their reporter. He was active in local 4-H events and committed mischief with Russ and Pete his childhood friends. After graduating in 1961, He attended U-CONN and completed his degree in Animal Husbandry. When working at a farm in NJ, he met Patricia Kittle, fell in love and followed her to Pennsylvania. They were married March 20,1965 in Springfield, PA. At that time, Everett worked for NEPA that then became Sire Power, which his career spanned 25 years. He was also a member of the US Army Reserves. During these years, Everett and Pat started their family. They were blessed with their 3 daughters, who survive him. Kandi Cook, Holli Cook Mosier and Traci Cook Chatterton. Their family grew to include his Son-in-law Leon Mosier and granddaughters Aubri, Allison (Patrick) Murphy. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Jane Kittle (D. Duane Kittle) and step siblings, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He shared special interests with each daughter. Kandi and Everett barrel raced together many years and he showed dairy cattle with Traci. He was also a 4-H leader where he made lasting friendships with his 4-H group. Including Kathy Cole and her family. Crafting together was an interest that Holli and Everett shared. Everett instilled in his daughters to be hardworking, honest, and to enjoy life. “When I am at my best, I am my father’s daughter.” – Author Unknown. This quote represents Everett teaching his daughters everything he knew. Everett and Patricia owned and operated Melody Meadows Farm, their cattle were prize winning animals. He also worked for Rome Township for a time and at CC Allis until he then retired. After being widowed for years, he met his special love Jane Pratt and they spent the next 12 years, happily in love. He is survived by Jane, her son David and Grandchildren Landon and Leona. After his retirement, he enjoyed many hobbies, such as woodworking projects, gardening, horseshoe welding, learning how to blacksmith, among others. One of his favorite past times was spending time with his family, whether it was family dinners, holidays, drinking wine with his Granddaughter Allison or just a visit.

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, August 10th from 12 – 2 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
