Fay F. Morris Jr.

When someone you love becomes a memory….the memory becomes a treasure~ Fay F. Morris, Jr. of Nichols passed away on February 22, 2017 following a period of declining health. Fay was born on August 21, 1927 at home in Rome, Pa and was one of six children of Bay Lillian (Chamberlain) and Fay F. Morris, Sr. He was a graduate of the Nichols High School class of 1945. On September 1, 1949 he married Julia May Williams and together they shared 58 years of marriage until her passing on September 4, 2007. A talented brick layer and general contractor, Fay will be remembered for many area homes he and his sons constructed. Fay was a member of the Westbrook Masonic Lodge and enjoyed spending time golfing, fishing, bowling and spending time in his gardens. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Rebecca Jane Morris McDonald of Utica; Bruce Edward and his wife Anne Morris of Tioga Center; Margaret Morris Moyer of Nichols; Andrew Fay Morris of Watkins Glen; and Jennifer Morris Hanford of Owego; a daughter-in-law: Sherry Morris of Owego; a brother-in-law: Donald Merrill; his special grandchildren: Sean McDonald, Kaitlin McDonald, Emma McDonald, Cary Anne and her husband Jim Matthews; Jonathan Morris, Brian Morris, Joel Fairlie, Lorelei Hill, Frances Hill, Brenard Moyer, Cristina and her husband Jason Rossi; Travis Morris, Sierra Morris, Hannah Hanford, Molly Hanford, Tyler Hanford. Many great grand children, nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Fay was predeceased by his parents, his wife Julia; a son Daniel; and siblings: William, Frances, Esther, Cora and Beverly. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Tuesday, February 28th from 4 to 6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of his life will follow at 6 pm. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Nichols Cemetery.
