It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone for part of us went with you the day God called you home..... Floyd H. Lurcock, 94, one of Owego's finest Flat Rat's passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Floyd was born in Owego, on December 20, 1926, the son of the late Henry and Olive (Campbell) Lurcock. He attended Owego Free Academy until the age of 17 when, with the blessings of his parents, he joined the US Navy - proudly serving on the USS Consolation Hospital Ship in the South Pacific during WWII. Many will be remember Floyd's friendly smile and good company at the Owego Moose where he bartended for many years. He also treasured the friendships formed his memberships at the Owego VFW and the Owego American Legion. Floyd loved the outdoors and spent many afternoons hunting and fishing. He also had a soft spot for animals. He was always willing to take in any strays in need of a loving home. Those left to cherish his memory are his eldest daughter and care giver, Linda Pierce and fianc Mark Tilly; daughters: Jennifer (John) Perry, Laurie (Howard) Dingman, Holly (Rich) Kauffman, Sandra (Thomas) Wallan; son-in-law, Tom Collins; sister Joyce Lurcock; his granddaughters who will remember him as their "Bompy" that could walk on water and do no wrong ~ Veronica Mortensen and Vanessa Willis; his 6 grandsons: Nathan and Michael Dingman, TJ and Randy Russell, Robert and Andrew Wallan and lastly his precious feline friend Mary. He is predeceased by the mother of his children: Martha Howe Lurcock, his parents, his daughters: Christine Lurcock and Denise Collins; his longtime companion Audrey (Bowen) Cleveland; sisters and brothers-in-laws: Dorothy and John McClave, Inez and John Taylor, Alberta and Robert Hildebrand; and brother Wesley "Hank"and his wife Freida Lurcock. A grave side service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family in the Riverside Cemetery, Lounsberry.
