A mother holds her children's hands for a little while and their hearts forever….Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Frances K. Duffek, 81, of Warren Center, Pa passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 following a period of declining health. Fran was born on December 25, 1932 in Oneonta, NY a daughter of the late Bruce and Kathleen (Cleary) Townsend. She was a graduate of Binghamton North High School. A loving and caring woman, Fran cared for others by working at the Area on Aging in Towanda. She treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Fran was a member of St. Patrick Church and the Alter Rosary Society. Many will remember Fran's acts of kindness by her sending letters and cards. If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever~ Fran will be greatly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law: Carol M. Chaffee of Clarks Summit, PA; Darcy and Samuel Brainard of Rome, Pa; Lonnette "Lonnie" Sisler of Charlottesville, VA; Valerie and James VanDeMark of Barton, NY; her sister and brother-in-law: Lillian and Lawrence Kotasek of Vestal, NY; brother and sister-in-law: Norman and JoAnne Townsend of Norwich, NY; her grandchildren: Rachel A. (Brian) Sipe; Alison E. (Jason) Johnson; Ryan (Lindsay) Brainard; Kurtis J. (Sarah) Parks; Nathan P. (Christina) Parks; Bethany O. Parks; Danielle Duffek, Cole Duffek, and Jill VanDeMark; great grandchildren: Chloe Sipe, Cooper Sipe, Braeden Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Norah L. Parks, Moses D. Parks; and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of another great grandchild. Her nieces and nephews: Karen Miernicki, John Kotasek, Joseph Kotasek, Gary Townsend, Michael Townsend, Norman Townsend, Erin Jankawitz, and Cheri Ganoung. Fran was predeceased by her parents Bruce and Kathleen Townsend; infant daughter Diane Louise Duffek, brother Bruce Townsend; sister Linda Merritt; and granddaughter Colleen A. Brainard. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Thursday, May 29th from 11:30-1:30 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St,. Nichols. Memories and music tributes will be shared at the conclusion of calling hours until the time of the service at 2pm. Rev. William A. Moorby, pastor of St. Patrick Church will officiate. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Warren Center Cemetery.
