Frances L. Bleiler

A mother holds her children's hands for a little while and their hearts forever….Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Frances L. (Christian) Shaffer Bleiler, 87, of Athens and formerly of New Albany, Pa passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa. Frances was born on December 29, 1930 in New Albany, PA one of twelve children to Charlie and Maude (Hardenstine) Christian. Fran treasured the time spent with her family and enjoyed completing puzzles, playing cards and could always find something useful at a flea market. She will be greatly missed by her children: Marie (Frank) West of Athens, Pa; Richard (Linda) Shaffer of Wyalusing, Pa; Clifford (Bonnie) Shaffer of Reedsville, Pa; Linda Woodruff of Sayre, Pa; Sally (Steve) Woodruff of Waverly; Walter (Hilda) Shaffer of Worcester, NY; Yvonne Bleiler, Carl (Gayle) Bleiler, Phyllis Young, Shirley Stevens, Craig (Doreen) Bleiler; her brother Max Christian of Pensacola, Florida; thirty-four grandchildren; many great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Frances was predeceased by her first husband Donald H. Shaffer; her second husband Arthur L. Bleiler; her siblings; Inez Lake, Emma Pervet, Johon Christian, Frank her twin brother; Bert Christian, Alberta Mayberry, Kathryn Pervet, Merlin Christian, Carl "CJ" Christian and Betty Christian; her grandchildren: Tony, Josph and Wanda. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 11 to 1 pm at the Nichols Masonic Lodge, 150 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and time of sharing will follow at 1 pm followed with a luncheon and period of fellowship.
