Frances L. Fisher

Frances L. Fisher, 90, of Port Crane and formerly of Apalachin, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013 at the Oxford Veterans Home. Fran was born on February 11, 1923 in Athens, Pa a daughter of the late James and Mame (Vose) Horton. She was a Veteran of the US NAVY and for many years served as the secretary for the Lakeview Chapel Church in Owego. Fran enjoyed sewing, bird watching, tending to her flower gardens and completing crafts. Fran was predeceased by her husband John T. Fisher on Dec. 20, 1999; her son Lawrence Fisher on April 6, 2012; her siblings: Rita Nobles, Wayne "Doc" Horton and Emma Jean Horton. Fran is survived by her children: Patricia Dorio, Dennis Fisher and Jacqueline Fisher; her sister Blanche Horton; sister-in-law: Karen Horton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, June 22 from 10-11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of Frances' life will follow at 11 am. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at the Arlington National Cemetery.
