Frances R. Wooster, affectionately known as Fran, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the Elderwood Nursing Home in Waverly, NY, where she had resided for the last several years. Born on August 17, 1934, in the quaint town of Litchfield, Pennsylvania, Fran's warmth and kindness touched all who knew her throughout her 91 years.
Fran's journey through life was marked by dedication to her family and a strong work ethic. After graduating from Elmira Southside High School, she furthered her education at Elmira Business Institute, which laid the foundation for her successful career. For many years, Fran was a familiar and respected figure in the business office at the Chemung Foundry, where her professionalism and pleasant demeanor were appreciated by colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of her professional life, Fran's world revolved around her beloved family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheree and David Strong; her cherished grandchildren, Laurie Wooster, Irene and Robert Anderson, and Andrew and Canda Strong; as well as her adored great-grandchildren, Jack and Ella. Fran was a beacon of love and support, her pride in her family's achievements knew no bounds. Her memory will also be held dear by several nieces, nephews, and their families, who lovingly referred to her as "Aunt Franie." She was predeceased by her husband, Jack F. Wooster, in 2003, and her son, John Wooster, in 2019; and her siblings: Harris Rogers, Cecil Louise Poley, Virginia Rogers and Lloyd Rogers.
Fran's interests were simple yet profound in their ability to bring joy to her and those around her. She was an enthusiast of life's simple pleasures, treasuring the moments spent with family above all else. Fran's eye for a bargain was unmatched, always looking forward to the thrill of finding the perfect item at a rummage sale. She took immense pride in her grandchildren's accomplishments, celebrating their successes as if they were her own. A fan of the King of Rock 'n' Roll, Fran's love for Elvis Presley's music was a testament to her timeless taste. And nothing could quite compare to the delight she felt while enjoying a good ice cream cone—a simple pleasure that encapsulated her appreciation for life's sweet moments.
Fran’s life was rich with memories and affection, was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her to cherish the small joys and the company of loved ones.
