Gary "Bear" Edward Whitmore

Those we love, don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear….Gary E. "Bear" Whitmore, 66, of Nichols, NY passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016. Gary was born on March 6, 1950 in Endicott, a son of the late LaVerne and Myra (Lupold) Whitmore. He was a graduate of Owego Free Academy and proudly served his country with the US Army. Gary was a member of the Local Carpenters Union for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR. His greatest pleasure was seeing that his children also had the love of hunting and spending time outdoors as he did. Gary will be greatly missed by his sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and Nicole Whitmore; Lonni and Samantha Whitmore; his daughters Jamie Whitmore and Breeze Whitmore; six grandchildren; his sister Verna Miller; brothers Myron "Butch" (Shirley) Whitmore; Paul "Skip" (Diane) Whitmore; Ronnie Whitmore; a sister-in-law: Liz Whitmore; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. Gary was greeted and welcomed into heaven by his parents; brothers: John Whitmore and Terry Whitmore and a sister-in-law: Gloria Whitmore. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Sunday, July 31st from 2 to 4 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of Bear's life will follow at 4 pm with Pastor Loretta Perry, officiating.
