George E. Warfle, 98, of RR 3, Route 187, Rome, Pa passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, March 30, 2008. He was born on March 19, 1910 in Berkshire, New York a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Grover Warfle. He was a devoted lifetime farmer~In 1933, George began his farming career as a hired hand at the NB Wilmot Farm. He later purchased the farm in farm in 1965 and continued farming until his retirement in 1985. In addition, George also had a milk route where he hauled canned milk to the Wysox Creamery for many area farmers. George was a 60 year member of the Roman Lodge #418 where he served as Past Master and Secretary. He was an avid reader, enjoyed nice cars and attending many baseball games with his friends. George is survived by his sister-in-law Marjorie Warfle and her family; his extended family and dear friends Jane and John Richard Upham and family; Stella Walker and family; many friends and his neighbors also survive. George was predeceased by his parents; and brothers: Arthur, Robert and Harold. A time of remembering the special gift George was to all of us will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols with Pastor George Jatko, officiating. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd from 10 am until the time of the Masonic Service. Masonic services will be conducted by the Roman Lodge #418 F & AM at 10:45 am. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Rome Cemetery.
