In the early morning hours of November 6th 2014, the angels came to take George Kotch home. George was the son of John and Elizabeth Kotch who immigrated to the United States from Austria in 1893. He was one of 15 children. George was pre-deceased by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters. George was born on August 27, 1922 in Windber, PA, he attended Windber High School. Following high school he enlisted into the US Army and proudly served his country during World War II. He married Irene Vesnesky after serving in WWII in the Pacific. He was in the Philippines, Guadelcanal, Batan, Japan and Luzon. George was discharged from the Army in 1946. For several years, he worked in the coal mines, then moved to Bucks County and worked for the Fairless Works in the 45 Inch Rolling Division for 30 years. Following his retirement, he and Irene moved to Warren Center. They enjoyed country living there for thirty years, until Irene's passing on January 15, 2013 ~ they were married 66 years. George enjoyed hunting, reading, completing crossword puzzles and playing his harmonica. George is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law George and Cheryl Kotch of Florida; Charles "Chuck" and Sandy Kotch of Warren Center, Pa with whom he lived with for 1 years before entering the Bradford County Manor. A daughter Linda Kotch of Levittown. In addition he is also survived by two grandchildren, Christine (Fran) Chismar of New Jersey and Michele Williamson, of Pa. He is also survived by four great grandchildren: Darien and Cole Chismar and Hilary and Owen Williamson of Levittown, Pa. A sister-in-law Pauline Kotch of Windber, Pa and many nieces, nephews and their families also survive. The family would like to thank all the nurses and aides at the Bradford County Manor, especially Jodi, Lisa, Leeann, Carolyn and Dawn on 2 East for their kindness and care given to George while he resided there. We will all miss his loving smile. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Sunday, November 9th from 2 - 4 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 10th at 10 am at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Friendsville with Father Casimir Stanis, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow at the St. Thomas Cemetery in Little Meadows. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW 6824.
