Gertrude E. Seal

Gertrude E. (Abbott) Seal, 93, formerly of Lansdowne, PA passed away on September 2, 2016 at the Guthrie Memorial Hospital, in Towanda, Pa. Gertrude was born on November 16, 1922 in E. Lansdown, Pa a daughter of Harry J. and Eva (Lagasse) Abbott. She attended Notre Dame High School and West Chester University where she graduated with her degree in Early Childhood Eduction. She taught for twenty years in public school system at the Sugartown Elementary and Gulph Road Elementary School. Gertrude was an avid reader and knitter. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, John S. Seal, Sr., who passed away on March 4, 2005, a grandson Harry; sister Harriet Byrnes and brothers Frank and Joseph Abbott. Gertrude is survived by her sisters Patricia Maggitti and Margaret Lipscombe; her children: John S. (Lori) Seal, Jr.; Harry Seal, Joanne Nolt; grandchildren: George Sabo, John Nolt, Kate Snow, Kristen Seal, Ashley Uney, Heather Seal, Mackenzie Seal, Riley Seal, Desirae Zantz, Robert Nolt, Jr., Jason Nolt; and eighteen great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Funeral services will be held at a later date and at the convenience of the family.
