Ginger L. Dodge
of Maine, NY
Ginger L. "Gin" Dodge, a cherished soul known for her loving heart and faith-filled spirit, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital after a period of declining health. Born on March 9, 1957, to the late Albert and Orvella (Romeo) Ward, Gin's life was one of devotion, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone she knew.
Ginger found her soulmate in Edmund "Ed" Dodge, and the two were united in marriage on October 22, 1977, in Apalachin, NY. Together, they built a life filled with love and family. Ginger was a beloved mother to her children, Ray Sisson (Ashley), Brandy (Brian) Smith, and Marion Dodge. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Buckie Jo, Alexander, April, Hunter, Mystery, Hailey, and Bethany, and was blessed to see the joy of several great-grandchildren.
Her sister and confidant, Pam Smith (Harry), shared in the many adventures and moments of laughter that defined Gin's life. Despite the loss of her brother Albert "Jake" Ward, Jr., an infant son Bucky Joe Ward, and nephew Joshua Smith, Gin's heart remained expansive, filled with love for her many nieces, nephews, and their families, all of whom survive her.
Ginger's professional life was spent contributing at various manufacturing companies. She also showcased her culinary skills as a cook at The Terrace. Her love for farm life was more than a pastime; it was a testament to her connection with the land and the simple pleasures of nature.
Gin's interests were a mirror to her soul. She treasured her family above all and relished the moments spent in their company. Her hobbies included adult coloring books, which reflected her creative and colorful nature. She was an avid fan of dirt racing and enjoyed the musical stylings of the Short Change Band. Animals held a special place in Gin's heart, evident in her companionship with her faithful dog Dudley and her pet rooster "Ben Ben."
Known for her sass and great sense of humor, Gin could light up a room with her wit and charm. Yet, it was her deep faith that gave her the greatest comfort. She found solace in the Bible's words and believed in the strength it provided. Gin's legacy is one of love, kindness, and faith. She lived her life with a grace that was as natural to her as breathing, and her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Ginger will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and the many lives she touched. "Family is not an important thing. It's everything," a quote by Michael J. Fox, resonates deeply with the life Gin led, as her family was truly her world.
Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, April 4th from 2 – 4 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A service will follow at 4 pm at the chapel.
