Gordon R. Morris

Gordon R. Morris, 91, of Barton, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2013 following a period of declining health. Gordon was born on August 27, 1922 in Owego, a son of the late Ivan and Gladys (Holdridge) Morris. On October 14, 1945 he married Virda I. Johnson and together they celebrated nearly 68 years of marriage. He proudly served his country with the US Air Force during WWII. Gordon retired from IBM-Glendale following 37 years of service. He was a devoted member of the Tioga Center Baptist Church and long-time owner of Gordon R. Morris & Son. Gordon was devoted to his Lord and served as past president of the LaHore Bible Institute for many years. Gordon will be missed by his wife Virda; his children: Karen (Richard) Loomis, Karla (Neil) Gilbert, Koleen (Richard) Singerline, Kay (George) Neild; Kris (Laurie) Morris, twenty-one grandchildren, several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and son Kevin Morris. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Thursday, September 19th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of Gordon's life will be held on Friday, Septmeber 20th at 11 am at the Tioga Center Baptist Church. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
